new play season

A bilingual branding and publicity project for Drama Box’s  ’New Play Season 2011′. The New Play Season aims to encourage more involvement in the local Chinese language theatre by staging scripts from new playwrights.

The logo has the title bracket left open to represent the new open platform and the beginning of fresh ideas and creativity.

This project is in collaboration with Lin Weidong.

passenger part one__experimental journeys

/Experimental Journeys/ records the artist’s personal account of his travel explorations. Every day in the month of February 2011, the artist took a new bus route that corresponded to the date and generated GPS graphics from his passenger experiences. /Experimental Journeys/ embraces the fundamental joy of traveling and explores the role of the passenger as a flanêur.

passenger part three__travelers’ tales

/Travelers’ Tales/ is a study of the city experience through dialogues of passengers. Recordings of conversations overheard on trains at 5 different times of the day are translated into a series of sound waves installation. The frequency of words mentioned is mapped out to reveal everyday impressions of Singapore’s culture and attitude. With the partially audible eavesdropped conversations, /Travelers’ Tales/ invites the audience to complete these strangers’ stories with their own imagination.

tefware

Tefware is a kitchen brand that brings revolutionary designs into everyday kitchen appliances and dinning products.

It aims to present a professional, modern and innovative image, and at the same time offer customers a relaxing and personable shopping experience.

The logo is distinctive, yet flexible in its colours and applications, thus giving endless permutations of the brand’s mood and direction. This suggests the brand’s creativity, inclusiveness and adaptability, providing it an edge over it’s mature competitors.

passenger typeface

/passenger/ is an all lowercase san serif typeface designed to represent road circuits and junctions. Its distinctive features include the indirect diagonals and angular edges of the n, o and x. These characteristics are then brought forward to the other font designs.

The ascenders of the fonts are also slanted forward to suggest inertia and motion. When kerned tightly together, the overlapping letters are also designed to mimic the visual of subway maps.

This font is best suitable as a headline text on clean, modern applications, with themes related to travel and journey.

reviving tradition

The traditional Chinese calendar is redesigned for a different audience and purpose.
This includes one that provides daily itinerary and Singlish guide for the tourists,
and another that works as an organizer and a post-it notepad at the same time.

dictio/nary

A compact dictionary redesigned to make it even more portable and flat enough to be kept in an A4 folder. The book is split into halves so that the page area remains small enough for easy navigation. The alphabets on the front cover and the corresponding primary and secondary letters along the outer gutter of the pages aid the finding of words.
